Israel Folk Dance
In these tough times, 15 -18 people from our community are coming together at our Israeli Folk Dance Class. It’s become a way for us to stay strong and take a break from all the heavy news. Learning dance steps and getting lost in the tunes has been helping Israelis and non-Israelis stand side by side. It’s like a shared escape, a chance to forget the headlines and connect through the simple language of music. In these moments, we find unity, reminding ourselves that, despite the challenges, we’re all in this together.
Instructor Udy facilitates and lead a few dance events in the San Francisco Bay Area: he teaches classes, hosts a monthly Saturday Cafe Shalom dance party in San Francisco, and co-lead and DJ at Memorial & Labor Day Land Dancers’ Folk Dance weekends in the Santa Cruz mountains.
Udy‘s dance repertuar consist of dances that have been in the community for a while. New dances are being introduced every week. However, Udy waits until a dance become recognized and proven to stay. During non-teaching sessions (see Saturday and Weekend long events) Udy plays couple dances as well.
