It is our honor to invite you to celebrate Israel’s 75th year of Independence. 

This year’s event connects us all to the grieving and loss of our brave, to the joy and celebration of our Independence over the course of one evening as one community. 

• 4:30pm: Doors Open: Intimate videos in remembrance of our fallen soldiers
• 5:00pm:  Participate in a moving Havdalah Ceremony* from Zikaron to Atzmaut
• 6:00pm:  Guests will move from the auditorium to the APJCC field to enjoy and celebrate the food and culture of Israel at various food truck options and stations.
• 6:30pm: The celebration takes off with Rock Atzmaut with the RoXann band. Enjoy the evening with your community while rocking out to songs in Hebrew and English.

Throughout the event the Jewish Silicon Valley Family Center will remain open for parents with young children to have a place to take any needed breaks. The space is intended for children 5 and under and children must be accompanied by their caregiver at all times.

*Almost a decade ago, ‘Beit Tefilah Israeli’  the “Israeli House of Prayer”  in Tel Aviv initiated a “Havdalah” ceremony between the Memorial Day events and the beginning of the Independence Day celebrations. According to the initiators, the ceremony was born out of the emotional need to differentiate between the mourning and the holiday, and the desire to do so in a contemporary Jewish-Israeli language.
