10:00 am - Opera Guild Lecture
September 20 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The second lecture of the Fall Season will be on The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs, music by Mason Bates and lyrics by Mark Campbell, the first of two 21 st century operas that San Francisco Opera is doing this Fall. If you never received an invitation to a product launch at Apple, this is your opportunity. Not only will you experience the excitement of that event, but you will also experience Steve Jobs poignant life story. This 90 minute, one act opera reflects on the revolution that Jobs brought to how we communicate and sees how Jobs might have seen his life when contemplating his early death. An original cast recording won the 2019 Grammy for Best Opera Recording. Our speaker will be Cole Thomason-Redus who is currently the Educational Content Curator in the Department of Diversity, Equity & Community at San Francisco Opera. Cole is a San Franciscan, a conductor, a composer, but always an educator, a role he has performed with Chanticlear, Apple and other organizations.
