10:00 am - Geniza Burial & Cemetery Clean Up
September 15, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Join us for a special ritual to bury sacred documents (i.e. prayerbooks) containing God’s name. The term “Geniza” comes from the Hebrew root which means “hidden”, and refers to a place where Jews store sacred documents when they’ve stopped being used. Temple Emanu-El’s geniziah is overflowing and we invite you to join us in our first such burial in many years. Our Geniza burial will take place on Sunday, October 2nd at 10am at Home of Peace. Please find the address here.
Additionally, we will be cleaning and beautifying the headstones in the Cemetery. You are invited to help.
Following the Geniza Burial & Cemetery Clean Up, we will be holding Kever Avot at 11am. (More Info Here)
