5:30 pm - Beginning Yiddish class
January 18 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Why do some people “shlep” rather than “carry?” Why do they “kvetsh” rather than complain? Learn Yiddish and find out! This introductory Yiddish course offers a rare opportunity to learn the Yiddish language from the ground up, covering basic, everyday vocabulary and essential grammar. Aspects of Yiddish culture, music, and stories will also be discussed.
The course is for students who already know some words and phrases and those who know absolutely nothing about Yiddish. It will be taught by Yankl Levitow, Yiddish instructor at UC Santa Cruz and Stanford University.
The 10 weeks classes are free of charge, only course materials will be charged. This program is sponsored by San Jose State’s Jewish Studies Program. Register to attend in person or on Zoom and for info about course materials.
