ChaiStarter grants are intended to inspire individuals, organizations, congregations and agencies to develop and implement new or enhanced programs to meet significant community needs or create new and innovative engagement opportunities in the South Bay's Jewish community.

Proposals should build upon any of the following fundamental tenets: education, community, improving a life. Proposals should address these populations:

  • Seniors
  • Young families
  • Teens

Special consideration will be given to collaborative programs (multiple agencies' involvement) and to those program which meet the needs of our vulnerable community members, interfaith and intermarried, minority ethnic communities and families with alternative structures.  Programs must show viability and independent sustainability within 3-5 years.
