The San Jose City Council chambers will be a solemn space commemorating International Holocaust Remembrance on Tuesday, January 24 at 1:30pm. The date of January 27 was declared by the United Nations in 2006 to be an annual day of commemoration across the world, marking the date on which Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated in 1945. During the ceremonial items that precede the formal meeting agenda, Council member Chappie Jones and Mayor Sam Liccardo will present a proclamation to a local survivor, and other local survivors will also be honored. The acknowledgement is a partnership of the city council, the Silicon Valley Holocaust survivors Association and the Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley.
The public is invited to witness this brief but important and moving ceremony. Validated parking is available under City Hall. Questions firstname.lastname@example.org.
