Inclusion Programs for

Special Needs Youth & Families

Programs & Resources

Early Years Support Group

This group is for parents/caregivers of children ages approximately 2-8 with any diagnosis*. The group is co-sponsored by the Los Gatos JCC and Parents Helping Parents.

The journey to, through, and beyond a special needs diagnosis can make the parenting experience all the more intense. All the more so during the pandemic! Join an intimate circle of fellow travelers for sharing, listening, and supporting each other with practical advice.

Facilitated by Maria Johnson, an elementary school teacher and special needs mom. The group is compassion-based and anyone interested in meeting others sharing the journey of parenting a child with special needs is encouraged to attend.

Who should attend: Parents/caregivers only. No observers, please.

Every other Monday | 8:30pm to 9:30pm
Cost: Free

Volunteer Opportunities

One of Fun and Fitness with Friends’ greatest strengths is our team of volunteer “Buddies” who work one on one with our incredible children and teens.

Benefits of Volunteering: In addition to making friends and making a real difference in the life of other children, volunteers also benefit with a free membership to the APJCC during the length of the program, high school students can earn community service hours, and job seekers and college bound individuals can earn skills and experience.

Volunteer “Buddy” Requirements: Must be 15 years old or older, must commit to working Sundays from 12:30-4:30pm for the extent of the program, ability to lift 50 lbs, ability to be on feet for long periods of time, and must submit to a LiveScan fingerprinting and background check.

If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer for this program, please complete and return the Volunteer Form via fax (408.358.7311) or scan and email (preferred) to [email protected].
