Fun & Sports with Family 2024

Fun & Sports with Family 2024

More than 100 guests from all over the Bay Area joined us for our annual Fun and Sports with Family, a day of play for children with special needs and their loved ones. The event provided a safe space and comfortable environment to enjoy sensory-friendly games, crafts, and activities at their own pace.

The event, made possible by the support of the Honorable Susan Ellenberg and Steven Ellenberg, was free and open to the public, and included art, dancing, pickleball, kickboxing, soccer, and more.

Participants took turns adding their special design to our RESPECT PASS IT ON, Community Art Project, a project that has become an event tradition.

This year, we were proud to welcome Animal Assisted Happiness(AAH) and their adorable farm friends to the event. Attendees got the chance to walk a goat around the field and snuggle up with bunnies, chickens and guinea pigs. AAH enriches the lives of youth with needs, and their families, by providing one-on-one farm animal interactions at the Smile Farm in Sunnyvale, through mobile and virtual visits across Silicon Valley, and with vocational education.

While the event provided a much needed and appreciated day for the children, it was the parents that kept expressing their gratitude for the event. Children smiled from ear to ear in the check-in line, eagerly awaiting their chance to explore, while the most sincere ‘thank yous’ echoed from the parents.
