Interfaith Seder: 2023

Interfaith Seder: 2023

The Seder was co-hosted by Trinity Cathedral and the JCRC and was co lead by Dean McCray-Goldsmith and Rabbi Dantowitz from Congregation Emeth. The Service was in English, Hebrew and Spanish.

Our theme was Women’s Economic Freedom because women, predominantly women of color, were most disproportionately impacted by COVID.

JCRC partnered with five women leaders representing separate and diverse viewpoints/lived experience each of whom spoke at the event. This included Supervisor Ellenberg, Gabriela Chavez-Lopez Executive Director of the Latina Coalition of Silicon Valley, Sabrina-Mone Lamontagne a member of the National Coalition of Black Women, Benaifer Dastoor Chair of the SCC County Commission on the Status of Women and Ruth Santana-Grace a leader in the Presbyterian Church. Each speaker brought a different emphasis to the evening and a sense of empowerment and purpose was shared after the speakers delivered their remarks.

This was a powerful way to share Jewish traditions and rituals around Passover with non-Jewish participants and to show how Jewish traditions and values include social justice work and creating a better world for us all.

“My heart is full. I had a great experience this evening.”
