About Community Advocacy Federation supporters can be advocates to other organizations to which they belong, strengthening the bonds between community agencies and the Federation. There is already much cross-over among the boards of agencies and institutions in the South Bay, proving that commitment to Jewish causes does not stop at the boundaries of individual entities. We are proud of the lay leaders whose individual talents and dedication have made our community a vibrant and vital one. One example of multi-agency cooperation was the community-wide "Mitzvah Day" held this past spring. An outgrowth of congregational programs, Mitzvah Day rallied hundreds of Jews from synagogues, agencies, youth groups, and the general community to help with their hands, their heads, their wallets, and their hearts. Growing out of these and other commitments, Federation supporters are among our most valuable volunteer solicitors. Their dedication—in individual meetings, on Super Sunday, and in attendance at Federation events—is key to our ongoing success in supporting the larger community. Mission statement The Mission of the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley is to raise and to allocate funds needed to maintain and strengthen Jewish identity, Jewish community and Jewish life, and to work toward meeting the needs and concerns of the Jewish community locally, in the United States, in Israel and throughout the Diaspora and to develop leadership.
