Women’s Philanthropy Fall Outreach to celebrate 60 years of Israel
Leah Stern, a TV correspondent, anchor and editor for IBA News, Israel’s only local English language news program, will be the keynote speaker at the Women’s Philanthropy of the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley Fall Outreach event.
The event, titled Women Celebrating 60 Years of Israel, will be held on September 24, from 9:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Levy Family Campus in Los Gatos. During a virtual tour of Israel, women will sample Israeli fashion, politics, aesthetic products, self defense, travel, and, of course, food.
Stern was embedded with the IDF during Israel’s disengagement from Gaza and broadcasted live war reporting during the second Lebanon War from Israel’s north. Stern is also an editorial contributor to various publications both in Israel and in the U.S., such as the Miami Herald, Miami Sun Post, Detroit Jewish News, Jewlicious.com and The Jerusalem Post. Stern recently completed co-producing “Disengagement,” a feature-length documentary on Israel’s disengagement from Gaza. Stern is originally from Miami, FL and made Aliyah to Israel in October 2004, where she resides in Tel Aviv.
After the keynote speech, participants will have the opportunity to attend two breakout sessions including skincare with Tova Yaron, owner of Tova Yaron Day Spa and Salon, Krav Maga with instructor Opher Ha-rel of the Academy of Self Defense, Political Action to Benefit Israel with Charlie Kirschner and Tom Johanix of AIPAC, Israeli Travel Tips and Phrases with Mazi Efendovich or a hands on art project with Israeli artist Neta Levi
