Jewish teens speak out on interdating

Looking to preserve Jewish identity, and to follow halacha (Jewish law), rabbis teach that Jews are to marry other Jews. However, as more Jews marry outside of the tribe, this issue has grown more controversial. According the National Jewish Population Survey (2000-2001), 47 percent of Jewish newlyweds are marrying non-Jews, up four percent from 1990. The JCN decided to ask young, unmarried Jewish teenagers in the Silicon Valley where they stand on the issue. Below are their responses. More

Jewish teen starts film festival

 

Seventh grader and entrepreneur Shelby Rachleff, a member of Congre-gation Etz Chaim in Palo Alto, is busy preparing for the first annual kid’s only film festival “The Windy Kids Film Festival” that will debut April 9.


Shelby first decided to organize a film festival after attending the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado. More
