AIPAC annual dinner in December The 2003 AIPAC Membership Event will take place Sunday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m. at the Fairmont Hotel in downtown San Jose. Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) and AIPAC National Executive Director Howard Kohr will be the keynote speakers. AIPAC's dinner is the South Bay's largest pro-Israel event. JFS launches car donation program Jewish Family Service of Silicon Valley is pleased to announce that it has begun a car donation program that will benefit agency services for needy members of our community. This program is in addition to the current program JFS has been running for years to donate cars in working condition directly to refugees. Now automobiles in operating or non-operating condition may be donated for a charitable contribution. Please call 877-JFS4CARS (877-537-4227) with your questions or if you have a car to donate. March of the Living info meeting Dec. 7 The March of the Living is a once-in-a-lifetime, two-week experience for students in grades 11 and 12. From April 14 to April 28 teens will travel to Poland for Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) and to Israel for Yom HaZikaron (Memorial Day) and Yom HaAtzmaut (Independence Day). More
Open Hanukkah party for entire community The Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center will host a Hanukkah party at the Fairmont Hotel on Sunday, December 21. The party begins at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the entire Jewish community. Nosh on latkes, light your own menorah, enjoy the live music of the Joel Nelson Band, and hang out with new and old friends. The event costs $5 for families and $4 for seniors. At the event Jason Moses will be honored by the APJCC with the Aaron Katzman Memorial Award for outstanding service to the Jewish Community.
Techno volunteer needed at JFS Jewish Family Service is seeking techno volunteers in search of mitzvah points. One volunteer is needed to manage our website. This requires a few hours per month of website expertise. In addition, JFS is seeking a volunteer with expertise in Microsoft Access. JFS's huge database needs a few hours total of volunteer time to help update its mailing list. If you are interested in performing a "techie mitzvah" please contact Mindy S. Teen Hanukkah dance The Teen Advisory Council and Kehillah Jewish High School are co-sponsoring a Hanukkah dance on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 9 p.m. to midnight. All teens in the community are welcome. This is the first of many teen programs organized by the newly formed Teen Advisory Council. The Teen Advisory Council, sponsored by the Council on Jewish Education of the Jewish Federation of Greater San Jose, brings together young people from throughout the community to organize Jewish teen events.
