March of the Living info meeting December 7

The March of the Living is a once-in-a-lifetime, two-week experience for students in grades 11 and 12. From April 14 to April 28 teens will travel to Poland for Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) and to Israel for Yom HaZikaron (Memorial Day) and Yom HaAtzmaut (Independence Day).

While in Poland they will visit Treblinka and Maidanek as well as Warsaw, Ticocin, Krakow, and Lublin. They will learn about the great, lost communities and about the Holocaust. Survivors, teachers, rabbis, and medical staff will accompany each group. The March itself will be three kilometers from Birkenau to Auschwitz, where our local teens will march in total silence carrying Israeli and American flags.

On Dec. 7 students and parents who are interested in the March are invited to a light lunch, information meeting and brief class at 11:30 a.m. in the conference room of the Jewish Community Federation at 14855 Oka Road. For more contact dmiller@jewishsiliconvalley.org.
