Lore Lane

Lore Lane passed on October 28, 2007 with her family by her side. Born on March 21, 1924 in Hagen, Germany, Lore survived the Holocaust after three years in the Theresenstadt Concentration Camp.  After the war, Lore moved to New York City where she met her husband, Kenneth.  Together they raised their daughters, Vivian and Wendy.  Lore worked  as an interviewer for the U.S. Census Bureaus.  While she moved to the West Coast to be closer to her daughters, Lori maintained her friendships with her long-time New York friends.  Upon moving to The Villages, Lore made friends there, too.  Many friends and family will miss her optimistic, humorous and easy-going mannerism.
Lore is survived by her beloved daughters: Wendy Shapiro and her husband Alan and their children, Evan, Brandon and Justin Shapiro of Los Gatos and Vivian Lane and her husband John Leong, and their sons, Kenneth and David Leong of the Los Angeles area. Burial services were held in New York and shiva minyans were held both in the New York area and in Los Gatos at the Shapiros’ home.
