Super Sunday donors pledged $324,842 to the 2007 Campaigns

Over 70 volunteers picked up the phones on Super Sunday 2007 which was held on February 11. Led by co-chairs, Denise Kappler and Barbara Goldstein, the results were phenomenal. Donors pledged $324,842 to the 2007 Annual and Campus Capital Campaigns, surpassing expectations. This sum does not include any matching grants for the Campus Capital Campaign. “We are thrilled with the response this year and want to thank the volunteers and donors alike. I think we were also lucky with the weather -- the rain probably kept people home to answer their phones,” stated Federation Campaign Chair
Bonnie Slavitt Moore.

In this current climate of aggressive telemarketers, donors say they are happy to be called by the Jewish Federation on Super Sunday. Denise Kappler commented, “It is so nice to be thanked for calling – donors are more often happy to be called for the personal request for support of the Jewish Community.”

This year, donors who pledged more than $180 to the 2007 Annual Campaign were awarded a free one-month trial membership to the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center. Volunteers were also thanked for their participation with a choice of coupons to either Cold Stone Ice Cream or Peet’s Coffee. The volunteers with most cards closed and largest gifts solicited included Gordon Levin, Amada Orrin, Evan Kass, and Debbie Mendlowitz with honorable mention for Yvette Silverman. Raffle gifts were given to the top callers for each shift and included gift certificates to Alef Bet Judaica, local restaurants, the Hilton, Golf with the Federation President (Steve Greenberg) and, memorabilia and tickets to the A’s. Many thanks to the many volunteers and sponsors for their support in making Super Sunday rewarding for all.
