Campus Capital Campaign kicks into last lap!

The Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley has announced that only $2 million of the original $24.75 million price tag of the Gloria and Ken Levy Family Campus remains to be raised. “This is an unbelievable accomplishment,” said Federation CEO Jyl Jurman. “We can thank every dedicated community member who contributed to this amazing feat.”

The Federation successfully raised these funds from major donations from Gloria and Ken Levy, Eli Reinhard and his children, the Wolff Family Found-ation and the Koret Foundation. Coupled with a tremendous generosity from other community members the campaign has been propelled this far.

In addition to raising the $2 million, the Federation needs donors to expedite the reduction of their outstanding pledges and convert them to cash payments. Every dollar paid towards bank loans reduces the cost of the building by reducing the debt service.

At the Federation’s annual dinner, Federation President Steve Greenberg commented, “The faster we pay down this debt, the smaller the ultimate price tag will be for this building.”

To reinvigorate efforts, a matching $100,000 grant was announced from Campus benefactor, Eli Reinhard. The Federation has already received pledges totaling $21,000 towards the match with some outstanding pledges yet to be announced. At the recent annual dinner, Greenberg also disclosed that discussion has begun with campus agencies to roll all the campus capital needs into this last ‘lap’ of the campaign.

The Federation has an initial agreement with the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center and is still in discussion with Yavneh Day School and Jewish Family Services. Judy Levin, past Federation president and chair of the Federation’s Capital Campaign notes, “while this would impact the total for this phase of the Campus Capital Campaign, it would simplify this phase for our donors. We would be thrilled to pay off all the capital debt and allow Federation and the campus agencies to get back to its primary missions of community building and Tikkun Olam (repairing the world).”
