Silicon Valley's Community Chaplain
“If you don’t have a rabbi of your own and you have any Jewish questions or needs, I’m the person to call.” –Rabbi Leslie Alexander
Rabbi Leslie Alexander is available in the following ways:
- She offers assistance and referrals related to Jewish lifecycle events including baby naming, brit milah, b’nei mitzvah, marriage and funerals.
- She visits Jewish patients in hospice, local hospitals and inpatients in psychiatric facilities. If you have a hospitalized Jewish family member or friend, who does not belong to a synagogue, you may contact Rabbi Alexander.
- She speaks to groups of all types to teach on behalf of the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley.
- She is available just to talk. In her words, “every Jewish person in this community is needed and wanted. If you have any questions or doubts or longings, or you don’t know where you fit in but you want to connect, I want to hear from you.”
The Chaplaincy is a part-time position. Rabbi Leslie Alexander is available Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. She responds to emergency calls throughout the week. Please contact her at (408) 357-7509 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
Rabbi Alexander liaisons with local synagogues, Jewish and public agencies. She collaborates with the San Jose Mineta Airport chaplaincy, the San Jose Fire Department and the San Jose Police Department. She also sits on two ethics committees in local hospitals, and serves on the Santa Clara County Child Abuse Council. (The Chaplaincy program is funded by a generous grant from Wells Fargo)
