The Torah is not meant to be the exclusive possession of rabbis or scholars, but has been understood in Jewish tradition as a gift to the entire people. The public reading of the Torah was designed to make it accessible to the whole community. The practice of studying Parashat HaShavuah, the weekly Torah portion, was commonplace throughout the generations among both men and women.

Join in that ancient tradition and take possession of your heritage. Rabbi Aron, and occasionally Rabbi Fleekop, will lead a discussion each Saturday morning, following Simchat Torah and until Shavuot, on the section of the Five Books of Moses specified by tradition for that Sabbath.

We will particularly be focusing on the different personalities in the Bible, including that of God.

Books: The Five Books of Moses (Many different translations exist and are welcome in our study).
Two enrichment books that you might find interesting are God: A Biography by Jack Miles and A History of God by Karen Armstrong.
