There are 17 Jewish communities that are neither Ashkenazic nor Sephardic but instead are known in Hebrew as the edot ha mizrach, Eastern or Oriental Jewish communities.

What ancient Jewish customs did they preserve?
What customs did they embrace from the dominant culture that are an anathema to Jewish values?

Join Ken Blady as he takes us on a journey to explore the customs of these remote and fascinating Jewish communities.

Ken Blady is currently a lecturer in Jewish history at the American Jewish University Whizin Center as well as several Bay Area institutions. He is the author of several books including Jewish Communities in Exotic Places and has been featured on The History channel documentary, Operation Magic Carpet.
