Torah Study

October 02, 2010 from 9:30 AM

Deuteronomy is a fascinating combination of narrative and laws. It is a book with a point of view, one which has played a significant role in the formation of Judaism, and one which may create certain philosophical and theological challenges for the modern reader.

This class will examine Deuteronomy by looking at classical Jewish commentaries, as well as contemporary critical thought; we will examine and discuss issues that arise as we work through this important final book of the Torah.

We will have books available but invite students to bring their own commentaries as this enriches our discussion.
