by Brett Borah The Gloria and Ken Levy Family Campus will soon be a reality. After months of hard work, careful planning and spirited debate, all parties are in accord and moving forward on this exciting new facility. The campus is proof positive that our Jewish Community is maturing and becoming as important to the Bay Area as is Silicon Valley itself. As the Levy Campus rises to replace the current buildings, we will all begin to see a new commitment to Community in concrete form. The new facility will incorporate the Addison-Penzak JCC, Yavneh Day School, the Jewish Federation and Jewish Family Services. Envision a space where young and old gather to learn, to relax, to enjoy each other as Jews. The quality of this facility will make it a magnet for people, a place where our high schoolers can spend weekday afternoons and Sundays with other Jewish adolescents, where seniors can feel safe and wanted, where we can all feel pride in our Jewish achievements and where the Jewish Community thrives. But the campus remains a complex — and expensive — project, with a history of fits and starts. Today, I am convinced that we have the blueprint for ultimate success. We have studied every aspect of this facility in depth. We understand the cost of every square inch, and we recognize what work will remain even after we open the new building. And open it we will – with your help and the help of every member of the Silicon Valley Jewish Community. Within six months from the date of this publication, we plan to break ground and begin active construction. Eighteen months later, the Gloria and Ken Levy Family Campus will be dedicated. It is a particular pleasure to be able to make this announcement to our Community, and I share that joy with many others whose names are integrally connected with the campaign – including past Federation Presidents, heads of task forces, and volunteer members of committees. Thanks to all of you, the Cornerstone campaign is more than halfway toward its goal and the building plans are on solid footing. Now is the time for more members of our Silicon Valley Jewish Community to play crucial roles in the completion of this effort. Don't let this new campus rise without feeling the pride of participation. Join us as we build the future.
